OREANDA-NEWS  During the official trip to the State of Israel Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman visited Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center in Jerusalem and honored the memory of victims of the massacre. Together with his wife, he laid a wreath at the monument to the victims and toured the exhibits of the Center.

The Head of Government of Ukraine noted that the Center is a reminder of the terrible mass murder in which over 6 million innocent people, including 1.5 million children, had been killed. Among the righteous belonging to the nations who had rescued Jews during the Second World War risking their own lives were 2.5 thousand Ukrainians.

"The Holocaust is the embodiment of evil, the terrible tragedy that must not happen again", Volodymyr Groysman stressed and reminded that last year Ukraine was marking the 75th anniversary of the Babi Yar tragedy in which over 150 thousand Jews, Ukrainians and Gypsies had been killed.

"All these are, unfortunately, the tragic lessons of our life in what we must draw conclusions, be living with them in our hearts and keep in mind that such terrible events must never take place in the modern world”, said the Prime Minister. “We must honour and remember all those who innocently lost their lives in those terrible times and must do everything to ensure sustainable and unshakeable peace in our world."

The Prime Minister also attended the Herzl Museum at the main entrance plaza to Mount Herzl in Jerusalem, where there is located a national and military cemetery - a burial place of state leaders, prominent figures and people who had given their lives for Israel. The Prime Minister placed a wreath at the tomb of Theodor Herzl, an outstanding Jewish social and political activist.
