OREANDA-NEWS. Consulting company Eurasia Group named the main risks that the world will face in 2021.

The first line in the ranking was taken by “divided America:” according to experts, an era is coming when about half of US citizens will consider the President illegitimate. The company notes that the refusal of the current US President Donald Trump to recognize the election results is a unique act in US history.

The second most important risk is the protracted coronavirus pandemic. It is emphasized that it will threaten not only people's lives, but also political stability and the global economy. The distribution of vaccines will create a division between the rich and the poor, causing unrest in many countries.

In the third place in the ranking, experts placed the fight against climate change, noting that global cooperation in this area will be replaced by competition.

Among the key risks of the year, analysts also named increased tension in relations between China and the USA, difficulties in transferring confidential information to other countries, the likelihood of a conflict in cyberspace. In addition, specialists highlighted problems in the Turkish economy, weakening of the economies of the Middle East due to low oil prices, forthcoming resignation of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and political, social and economic crises in Latin America caused by elections in some countries and pandemic.
