OREANDA-NEWS. Prime Minister Pavel Filip participated in a national festival of grape on 21 August, which is organized the fourth year in a row in Cimislia city. The event brought together winegrowers from 18 districts of the country.

The premier said that the work and passion, which the grapes are grown with, brought the country fame at international level. ”We were blessed by God via hardworking people, beautiful places and traditions. Growing grapes is an occupation of Moldovans in ancient times,” Pavel Filip said.

At the same time, the premier urged the grape growers to continue their activity, including by implementing new technologies, meant to significantly increase production. Filip reiterated the government support for farmers in launching competitive business in the field.

“Grape became the foundation of the country brand, and the wine sector is an important branch of national economy”, the Prime Minister pointed out.

The premier talked to the winegrowers about the conditions and capacities of vine cultivation, as well as about the technologies used in producing and storing grapes. At the end, Filip along with the farmers and festival guests were dancing.

The grape festival is meant to promote production and consumption of grapes, as well as facilitation of setting trade relations between farmers, including with foreign partners. In 2016, the event was extended at the national level. At the same time, in September a Moldovan grape festival will be organized for the first time ever in Warsaw, Poland.
