OREANDA-NEWS. In the state of Hidalgo, in Mexico, due to a power outage and oxygen supply after flooding caused by heavy rains, 17 people were killed in a local hospital. This was announced on Wednesday, September 8, by Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador. Heavy downpours that began on Monday evening caused flooding of rivers, and also led to flooding of the first floor of the hospital in the city of Tula. Because of the water, the transformer that provided electricity to the institution failed. Some of the patients with coronavirus were on oxygen therapy. Rescuers managed to evacuate 40 people from the hospital.

The Mexican authorities have connected the army to the elimination of the consequences of the natural disaster. More than 30 thousand people were affected by the flood.

On Tuesday, an earthquake of magnitude 7.1 occurred in the Mexican state of Guerrero near the resort of Acapulco, 300 kilometers from Mexico City.According to the National Seismological Service, more than 70 repeated tremors were registered after it. As the President of Mexico stated in a short video message, the impact of the elements did not cause serious damage, but one person died.

According to the Federal Electricity Commission, due to the earthquake in Mexico City, more than 730 thousand people were left without power supply, that is, 22% of the total number of users.
