OREANDA-NEWS. An earthquake of magnitude 5.0 occurred in Greece. The epicenter of aftershocks was located 23 km from Athens. 

It was reported by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC). The earthquake was recorded at 11:13 UTC (14:13 Moscow time). The center of aftershocks lay at a depth of 12 km. 

According to the Associated Press, because of the earthquake, Athens residents ran out of buildings onto the streets of the city. Residents were very scared. Some of them say although the earthquake's epicenter was far away, they felt it strongly. According to eyewitnesses, cracks appeared on the buildings.
