OREANDA-NEWS  Beijing will do everything to resolutely protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies, the Chinese Embassy in London said, commenting on sanctions against companies from the country imposed by Britain as part of measures against Russia.

The embassy stressed that the sanctions imposed by Britain are unilateral actions that have no basis in international law, and China "strongly opposes".

The diplomatic mission also pointed out that Beijing has always adhered to an objective and fair position on the Ukrainian issue and actively advocated a political settlement and negotiations.

After the start of the Russian military special operation in Ukraine, Western countries increased sanctions pressure on Moscow. As President Vladimir Putin noted, the policy of containing and weakening Russia is a long—term strategy of the West, but sanctions have dealt a serious blow to the entire global economy. According to him, the main goal of the United States and its allies is to worsen the lives of millions of people.

Nevertheless, Russia is coping with the sanctions pressure, and in the West itself, opinions have repeatedly been voiced that these restrictions are ineffective. But, as Moscow emphasized, the West lacks the courage to admit the failure of its anti-Russian sanctions policy.
