OREANDA-NEWS. Demonstrators inciting Hong Kong independence inspired foreign separatists who are trying to transfer the street protest model to other countries - from Spain to Chile. This statement was made on Thursday by the head of the Commissariat of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China in this special administrative region of China, Xie Feng.

"This is a virus that has no borders and limits", he stressed, speaking at the forum of economic cooperation of the Great Bay region in southern China. "From Spain to the UK and Chile, protesters threaten to copy the situation in Hong Kong. If this Pandora's box of street violence is opened, the whole civilization may be in distress, and no country will be safe from this", said the Chinese diplomat.

Since the beginning of summer, massive protests have flared up here against authorities' attempts to pass a bill on extradition, which allows extradition of offenders to mainland China. Despite the decision of the head of the Hong Kong administration Carrie Lam to abandon this initiative once and for all, many opposition supporters among the youth express their readiness to continue their actions. They intensify on weekends and holidays and are periodically accompanied by riots, blocking streets, arson and acts of vandalism in the subway.
