OREANDA-NEWS  The final withdrawal of the U.S. troops from Afghanistan on Aug. 31 will leave many who are now desperate to escape taliban fighters abandoned. This was stated on August 25 on SVT air by Helen Lackenbauer, an expert on Afghanistan from the Swedish Defense Research Agency.

"The situation is very alarming. Just an incredible number of Afghans who have worked for the international community over the past 20 years will now find themselves in a quandary", Lackenbauer warned.

According to her, the situation of women, children and oppositionists to the new regime will be especially difficult.

"Now people are trying to eradicate all signs that they worked with the Occident. That they defended human rights or worked to solve women's problems", the expert added.
