OREANDA-NEWS The pipes intended for the construction of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline, which remained in warehouses in Germany, were sold for the construction of another gas pipeline. This was told by a representative of the Ministry of Economy of Germany, RIA Novosti reports.

When asked if the authorities intend to use pipes to connect the terminal for receiving liquefied natural gas (LNG) on the island of Rugen with the Lubmin community (OAL), she explained that they have already been transferred.

It is not specified which company will use the pipes. The German operator of the gas transmission network Gascade received permission to launch the construction of OAL. In May, it became known that the German government bought the pipes from Nord Stream 2 AG, which went bankrupt after the cancellation of the project, for 70 million euros.

In February, the newspaper Welt am Sonntag claimed that it was about three thousand pipes. At the same time, Berlin received US approval for the deal, as the parties agreed that the funds would not be transferred to the Russian side.

Nord Stream-2 was completed two years ago, but it has not passed certification. After the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine, the German authorities stopped all approval processes, and in September 2022, one of the two threads of the stream was destroyed by an explosion. The perpetrators of the incident have not been officially named.
