OREANDA-NEWS. Governor of the Irkutsk Region (Russia), Igor Kobzev, chaired the meeting of the Emergency Situations Commission in connection with the earthquake that occurred on the night of September 22. In total, three tremors with a magnitude of 5.9 were recorded. The epicenter was located 15 kilometres from the village of Kultuk, Slyudyansky district. By the decision of the Governor, a high alert regime was introduced in the region.

“Information about the victims and destruction has not been reported,” Kobzev said. “At night, working groups were formed that survey the areas where the earthquake was felt. Municipal authorities, together with special forces, need to conduct a survey of socially significant objects, life support systems, housing and communal services, and energy facilities,” he added.

In the Slyudyansky district, an emergency power outage occurred at night. 1,037 people are left without electricity. The liquidation works should be completed in the near future.
