OREANDA-NEWS. The newspaper Bild reports that Bavarian authorities have decided to cancel the Oktoberfest beer festival.

According to the publication, the decision is final, and it will be officially announced at a press conference on April 21 by Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Soder and Munich Mayor Dieter Reiter. On the website of the Bavarian State Chancellery, it is reported that it will begin at 9:00 local time.

The traditional beer festival in 2020 was to be held from September 19 to October 4. In early April, the main organizer of Oktoberfest, Clemens Baumgartner, announced that, despite the epidemic of the coronavirus infection COVID-19, the festival is planned as usual, but the final decision will be made in accordance with the recommendations of physicians and the instructions of the authorities of Germany and Bavaria.
