OREANDA-NEWS. Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, agreed on cooperation in the fight against coronavirus. In a telephone conversation on Thursday, they also talked about the situation on world oil markets, in Syria and preparations for the World Cup in 2022.

According to the Kremlin’s press service, “they discussed current issues on the bilateral agenda, praised the achieved level of cooperation, primarily in the energy and investment sectors, and expressed a mutual attitude towards the further progressive development of the entire range of Russian-Qatari ties”.

"An agreement has been reached on establishing direct cooperation between ministries of health in the field of counteracting the spread of coronavirus infection," the Kremlin said. The President of the Russian Federation and the Emir of Qatar agreed "to continue cooperation in the framework of the preparation and holding of the World Cup in Qatar in 2022".
