OREANDA-NEWS Residents of Poland were urged to save electricity due to the termination of gas and coal supplies from Russia. This statement was made by the head of the Department of Energy Regulation (URE) of Poland Rafal Gavin on the radio station TOK FM.

He warned that in the foreseeable future, the situation on the world market remains extremely unpredictable. In this regard, he recommended fellow citizens to save energy in order to additionally help themselves in the winter season, Gavin added.

According to the head of the Polish regulator, the upcoming winter will be difficult throughout Europe. "The risk of a gas shortage in the entire European market is becoming real," Gavin stressed.

Earlier, the official representative of the Polish government for energy infrastructure, Piotr Naimski, said that Europe will suffer for a long time if it does not refuse to import Russian gas. At the same time, the official noted that the Polish economy is able to import gas from other countries, which will allow it to gain independence from Russian resources.

At the end of May, the price increase in Europe broke another record. Annual inflation in the eurozone accelerated to 8.1 percent in May.
