OREANDA-NEWSSerbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic considers NATO’s 1999 operation against Yugoslavia "an act of aggression against a sovereign country". He stated this on Wednesday, speaking at the forum "The Seventh Week of NATO in Belgrade", the press service of the Foreign Ministry said.

“Relations between Serbia and NATO are extremely delicate because of the legacy of the past, that is, because of the bombing of NATO of the then Yugoslavia. I regret to recall that NATO intervention was not authorized by the UN Security Council, which for us unequivocally represents an act of aggression against a sovereign country, which caused huge victims and material losses. We can't forget those events and we will always remember those who died", Dacic said.

The Foreign Minister recalled that this year in Serbia celebrated the 20th anniversary of the NATO bombing. According to him, despite the different views on those events, all participants are responsible and are obliged to do everything to maintain peace in the region through cooperation. On March 24, 1999, NATO launched a military operation against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
