OREANDA-NEWS. Spanish newspaper El Pais, citing documents, video and audio materials, reports that the Spanish private security company provided 24-hour surveillance of the founder of WikiLeaks Julian Assange when he lived at the Ecuadorian embassy in London.

The company Undercover Global S.L., which was engaged in the protection of the Ecuadorian embassy in the period from 2012 to 2018, collected all possible information about Assange, especially about his lawyers and assistants. The cameras recorded dozens of meetings of the founder of WikiLeaks with lawyers and visitors, with whom he discussed his defense strategy. Some secret plans of the Assange team were obtained, for example the plans of removing the “prisoner” to Russia or Cuba. As the newspaper notes, these projects were not implemented due to the refusal of the founder of WikiLeaks.

The shadowing of the “guest” (as Assange figured in the records of security company) intensified after Lenin Moreno was elected a President of Ecuador.

According to El Pais, the tracking of the movements and mood of Assange, as well as the recording of his conversations, were a daily routine of security company employees based in the Spanish province of Cadiz. Every day, the material was recovered to the owner of the company David Morales. Morales refused to answer the question of whether his company conducted surveillance of Assange. “All information is confidential and belongs to the government of Ecuador… We just did our job. I cannot comment on what we did there, I cannot say about any details,” he said.

After the government of Lenin Moreno terminated the contract with Undercover Global S.L. the cameras continued to record all meetings of Assange.
