OREANDA-NEWS. The area of state institutions and embassies in Baghdad was subjected to rocket fire. As a result, a child was killed and at least five people were injured. As reported on Tuesday, November 17, representatives of the Iraq's armed forces, there were four rockets, that hit the “Green District” (the area of state institutions and embassies).

Local media reported, that one of the strikes was carried out near the headquarters of the Iraqi national intelligence service, just 600 meters from the US Embassy in Baghdad. A few rockets were intercepted with the C-RAM tactical air defense system, installed with the assistance of the United States at the beginning of the year.

According to the AP news agency, two members of the Iraqi security forces were injured. But the military has not confirmed this information yet. The strikes came shortly after acting Secretary of defense Christopher Miller said, that Washington would reduce its troops in Iraq from 3,000 to 2,500 by January 15, 2021.
