OREANDA-NEWS The people's militia of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) has information that the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) has completed the development of an offensive operation in the Donbass. This was announced on Tuesday, February 1, by the deputy head of the People's Militia Department of the DPR, Eduard Basurin.

“According to our undercover intelligence, the Ukrainian General Staff has completed the development of a plan for an offensive operation in the Donbass. We have previously reported on its preparation, ”Basurin said at a briefing.

According to him, this week a meeting is to be held under the leadership of General Serhiy Shaptal, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, with the participation of the Commander of Operations of the Joint Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Pavlyuk, and the commanders of the operational-tactical groupings "North" and "East", during which this plan of Ukrainian aggression against the independent republics.

In the future, this plan must be approved by the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC), Basurin specified.

Earlier that day, Director of the Geneva Center for Security Policy, former OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger said that the possibility of provocations in the Donbas by the Ukrainian Armed Forces cannot be ruled out. At the same time, he added that at present there are no signs of them.

Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said on January 31 that Russia does not exclude provocations from the Ukrainian side against the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics. While the deputy head of the People's Militia Department of the DPR, Eduard Basurin, noted that Kiev was preparing an informational provocation to start large-scale battles in the self-proclaimed republic.

On the same day, the head of the People's Militia Department of the LPR, Yan Leshchenko, drew attention to the fact that the Ukrainian special services and the West were preparing an information campaign to accuse Russia and the self-proclaimed republics of Donbass of aggression against Ukraine. He clarified that Kiev is preparing staged stories about the start of hostilities.
