OREANDA-NEWS. NATO member states need to maintain a dialogue with Russia and China. This was announced by the head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) of the United States, General Mark Milli, at a security forum in Aspen, Colorado. The recording of his speech was published by NBC News.

According to Milli, Russia, the United States and China have become the new global centers of power. In this context, the Pentagon spokesman noted, the whole world is becoming tripolar and less stable than it was 40-50 years ago. At the same time, the general said that the last thing the international community needs is the war of the great powers.

"I think that at this stage we are in a period of peace between the great powers. And we want to keep that, "added Mark Milli. According to the head of the OKNSH, the dialogue must be conducted" not only with allies, partners and friends, but also absolutely definitely it is necessary to talk with opponents and enemies."

In the same speech, the general admitted that the United States is observing active movements of Russian troops near the border with Ukraine. However, Washington does not consider such actions by Russia to be aggressive. According to Milli, it is "too early to say for sure" what this might mean.
