OREANDA-NEWS  Confectionery production in the Russian Federation is growing, in 2023 the volume is estimated at 4,115 million tons, according to the materials of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, citing data from the Association of Confectionery Industry enterprises "Askond".

"According to the assessment of the Association of Confectionery Industry Enterprises Ascond, by the end of 2023, the volume of confectionery production in Russia exceeded 4,115 million tons," the materials say.

More than half of domestic consumption is accounted for flour products - cookies, waffles, and so on, in second place - chocolate and chocolate products, including weight candies, in third place - sugary products: marmalade, marshmallows, caramel and others.
"Confectionery production in the Russian Federation is steadily growing: for example, from January to November, domestic confectioners produced over 3.7 million tons of confectionery, which is 3.7% more than the same indicator a year earlier," the materials say. The ministry notes that good dynamics, in particular, are demonstrated by chocolate in packaged form (273.7 thousand tons; +6.6%), sugary products (659.7 thousand tons; +5.6%).

The Russian Federation is the fifth in the world in terms of confectionery production, which ranks fourth in the structure of Russian agricultural exports. Currently, domestic sweets are sold in 81 countries, and the main buyers - China and the EAEU countries - account for 63% of supplies, the Ministry of Agriculture notes.
"Despite the drastic changes in the global economy, the export direction remains a key priority for Russian confectioners," said Vyacheslav Lashmankin, Executive Director of Ascond, quoted in the message.
