"This means that the decision-makers will be brought forward, more precisely where they are needed. For example, the unit commander on site can now decide whether an armored recovery vehicle, military truck or generator will be provided, if available", -  noted in the department.

The representative of the ministry clarified that 850 soldiers of the Bundeswehr are participating in the elimination of the consequences of the disaster.

According to media reports, the number of victims of the disaster has exceeded 100 people. About 1.3 thousand more citizens are listed as missing.

In Germany, since Monday, showers are continuing. They were caused the cyclone "Bernd", established in western Europe. The brunt of the weather has hit the western and southwestern regions, where rivers, including the Rhine, overflow their banks and flood streets.

Some settlements cannot be reached due to flooded roads and destroyed bridges. Evacuation is underway in five districts in North Rhine-Westphalia, as there is a threat of a dam break. About 350 people were taken out of Trier after the flooding of the local river. A state of emergency has been declared in the Rhein-Erft district.

Floods occurred not only in Germany, but also in Belgium and the Netherlands.
