OREANDA-NEWS Archaeologists during underwater work off the coast of the Greek island of Leviticus discovered the remains of shipwrecks that occurred in ancient times. 

In total, five sunken sailboats were found. The oldest of them dates from the III century BC, another died in the I century BC. These ships transported amphoras, fragments of which are also still at the bottom of the sea, according to the Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports.  Other finds date back to early Christian times. 

In addition, the researchers noticed a large fragment of a granite anchor, resting at a depth of 45 meters. It weighed 400 kilograms and was made in the VI century BC. 

Scientists came to the conclusion that the ship on board which was designed the same differed in gigantic dimensions for its time. However, no trace of it was left at the bottom.
