OREANDA-NEWS The United States on Wednesday expanded the sanctions list for Belarus, adding several organizations to it, including the Minsk Civil Aviation Plant and the Belavia air carrier, the US Treasury said in a document.

The sanctions list of the American department was supplemented, in particular, by the Department of Financial Investigations of the KGB of Belarus and members of its leadership, the airline Belavia, JSC Belarusian Metallurgical Plant, JSC Minsk Civil Aviation Plant, as well as the American company BEL-KAP-STEEL, presumably associated with the Belarusian Metallurgical Plant.

In addition, one aircraft has been added to the sanctions list, the operator of which is Belavia. According to the ministry, the aircraft is used for the needs of "high-ranking representatives of the government (President) Alexander Lukashenko, as well as their family members."

The sanctions imposed by the US Ministry of Finance imply the blocking of assets of individuals and legal entities included in the lists, as well as a ban on their concluding transactions with residents.
