OREANDA-NEWS Turkish companies receive threats from American diplomats because of trade with Russia. The local newspaper Aydınlık writes about this with reference to its own sources.

According to the newspaper, employees of the US embassy and consulates in Turkey come to the offices of firms and banks working with the Russian Federation and threaten them with sanctions. We are talking about companies doing business with Russian partners, as well as banks that make transfers to the Russian Federation and open accounts for Russians.

The source said that one of the diplomats is an export control specialist at the U.S. Consulate General in Istanbul, Gulin Kan Yukseltan. In response to a request from journalists, Aydınlık Yukseltan did not deny the fact of her visits, however, she stated that she was not authorized to provide information on this issue.

Earlier it became known that due to fears of secondary sanctions, exports from Turkey to the Russian Federation have sharply decreased. Aydınlık columnist Ismet Ozcelik notes that shipments have decreased by more than 30 percent compared to January 2023.
