OREANDA-NEWS About 700 refugees remain in the camp of the Russian peacekeeping contingent (RMK) in Nagorno-Karabakh, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported on Monday.

"According to the latest data, there are up to 700 refugees in the base camp of the peacekeepers, more than 400 of them are children," reads a message posted on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry on Monday evening.

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, 125 tons of humanitarian supplies and 65 tons of fuel have been delivered to the region by Russian peacekeepers over the past two days.

Smolenskaya Square notes that the RMK "monitors compliance with the ceasefire established on September 20 with its active mediation." "The absolute priority of all our efforts is to prevent a new outbreak of armed confrontation and civilian casualties," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

The Foreign Ministry added that "with the direct participation of the RMK command, two rounds of negotiations were held between representatives of Baku and Stepanakert." "Among the priorities of these contacts are the issues of demilitarization, restoration of peaceful life and ensuring the rights and security of the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh," the message reads.

"We hope that the positive results of this process will contribute to the speedy resumption of work on the implementation of a set of agreements between the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia in 2020-2022, including unblocking transport communications, delimiting the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, agreeing on a peace treaty and developing humanitarian contacts," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

Earlier on Monday, the Armenian government announced the evacuation of more than 6.5 thousand local residents from Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia, as of 17:00. A humanitarian center has been established in the village of Kornidzor near the Lachin corridor linking Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh.
