OREANDA-NEWS. April 11, 2011. Dmitry Medvedev visited Smolensk Textile Factory and spoke to workers there during a working visit to Smolensk.

Training for engineers and blue-collar workers, use of maternity capital, organising leisure activities for young people, and the lack of day-care centres in the region were among the issues discussed during the meeting with textile factory workers.

Following the meeting, Dmitry Medvedev visited one of the city’s day-care centres. The state of the building’s facade and outside area came under criticism from the President, and he instructed the governor of Smolensk Region to ensure all day-care centres in the region were in a fit state.

Dmitry Medvedev later had a working meeting with Smolensk Region Governor Sergei Antufiev, at which he requested that the governors address the problems of day-care centres without delay and reminded them of their responsibility for the condition of pre-school facilities. Higher education was also discussed at the meeting.
