OREANDA-NEWS. December 28, 2011.  Fifteen places in Anhui province have been honored as "homes of Chinese folk art for 2011-2013 by the National Ministry of Culture (MOC).

Counties of Xiaoxian, Dangshan and Fengyang made their way onto the list because of local art with distinctive cultural bends, such as painting, calligraphy, Chinese horns and flower-drum-dance.

Other winners are the Qinji township of Bengbu city, known for flower-drum-lanterns, Linquan county for acrobatics, Jieshou city for painted pottery, Fengtai county for flower-drum-lanterns and Dangtu county for folk songs, Additionally, Taihe county won for painting and calligraphy, Chaohu city for folk songs, Jinghu district of Wuhu city for iron painting, Susong county for Wennan poetry and Huaining county for Huangmei opera. The Sanyang township of Shexian county won for human pyramids and Wangjiang county for cross-stitching.

The "homes of Chinese folk art" are selected and announced every three years.
