OREANDA-NEWS. Specialists from the European Society of Cardiology have found that - high consumption of sodium in salt only slightly contributes to  development of cardiovascular disease or an increased risk of mortality.

“Our salt results are fully consistent with most large studies examining the relationship between sodium intake and cardiovascular disease or mortality, and do not support the widespread negative view that even a small amount of salt is harmful,” said Professor Salim Yusuf of  University.  , McMaster (Canada).

The expert also added that only excessive salt intake - more than six grams per day - can have a negative effect.
