OREANDA-NEWS. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) canceled the removal of the English football club Manchester City from the Champions League.

This was reported on July 13 on the court’s website. It is noted that it was decided to cancel the disqualification of Manchester City in European competitions. At the same time, the penalty previously imposed by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) was reduced from 30 million to 10 million euros.

Earlier, the UEFA suspended Manchester City from European competition for violating the rules of the financial fair play. The club was accused of fraud with sponsorship contracts. The period of disqualification was two years, but the administration of the club appealed against this decision of the Union.

However, the English Premier League intends to continue the investigation of the financial affairs of Manchester City, despite a decision of the CAS.
