OREANDA-NEWS. The 17th stage of the Formula 1 World Championship - the Japanese Grand Prix, has been officially canceled. This was announced by the organizers of the tournament. The reason for the cancellation of the stage was called difficulties due to the coronavirus.

Formula 1's statement on the situation with the Japanese Grand Prix was published on its official website: "After negotiations with the promoter and the Japanese authorities, the government of the country has decided to cancel the race this season due to the ongoing difficulties associated with the pandemic."

It is recalled that this year the race was supposed to take place from 8 to 10 October.

This cancellation of the Japanese Grand Prix was the second in a row for this stage - in 2020 it also did not take place.

Also in “F1” made it clear that the calendar for the rest of this season will undergo changes. Its final dates will be announced shortly.

Previously, the conditions for the Russian stage of Formula 1 became known. The organizers of the Russian stage of the Formula 1 World Championship - the Russian Grand Prix in Sochi have announced the conditions of the race. The stands of the Sochi Autodrom will be filled to 50 percent of its total capacity.

"Based on the results of joint negotiations with Rospotrebnadzor and the Krasnodar Territory administration, taking into account forecasts for the development of the epidemiological situation in the region by the end of September, as well as taking into account the experience of the Russian stage of Formula 1 last season, it was determined that we can talk about 50- the percentage of Sochi Autodrom's volume for the competition, "the press service of the autodrom said in a statement.

It is recalled that the Russian Grand Prix will take place in Sochi from 24 to 26 September.
