OREANDA-NEWS. Russian Greco-Roman wrestler Musa Yevloyev became the champion of the Olympics in the weight category up to 97 kilograms.

His rival in the final was the 29-year-old representative of Armenia Artur Aleksanyan, the Olympic champion of Rio de Janeiro and the bronze medalist of London.

Iranian Mohammad Hadi Saravi and Pole Tadeusz Michalik became bronze medalists.

Alex Söcke and Pole Tadeusz Michalik. Bronze medals were won by Michalik and Iranian Mohammad Hadi Saravi.

Earlier, Greco-Roman wrestlers Sergei Emelin (up to 60 kg) and Sergei Semenov (up to 130 kg) won bronze medals.

28-year-old Evloev is a two-time world champion (2018, 2019) and Europe (2019, 2021). He also has a silver medal of the world championship (2017).

The Russians returned to fifth place in the unofficial team standings for the number of gold medals (13 gold, 21 silver, 18 bronze medals). The Chinese are in the lead (32–20–16), the Americans are in second place (22–27–19), the Japanese are in third (19–6–11), and the Australians are in fourth (14–4–15).

The Olympic Games are held from 23 July to 8 August. Due to WADA sanctions, Russian athletes compete at the Olympics under the flag of the Russian Olympic Committee. Instead of the national anthem, a fragment from the First Concerto for Piano and Orchestra by Pyotr Tchaikovsky is used at the awards ceremonies.
