OREANDA-NEWS. Armed units loyal to the Government of National Accord (GNA) led by Fayez al-Sarraj, ousted the fighters of the Libyan National Army (LNA) under command of Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar from the area located 80 kilometers west of Tripoli. According to Al Jazeera, after taking this territory under control, GNA forces completely occupy an area along the Mediterranean coast from Tripoli to the border with Tunisia.

In Libya, for a long time, two executive bodies have existed in parallel: the GNA in the capital city of Tripoli and the temporary cabinet of Abdullah al-Thani, acting in the east of the country together with the parliament and supported by the LNA of Marshal Haftar. In April of 2019, the latter began to attack the capital; for a year, the warring parties have been fighting for the city.
