OREANDA-NEWS  Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev called Russia a fundamental country for security in the Caucasus. He stated this at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, RIA Novosti writes.

According to him, regional security issues are constantly on the agenda of meetings with Putin. Aliyev noted that the presidents are pleased with the way they are being resolved. "Russia is a fundamental country in terms of regional security in the Caucasus and in a wider geography," the Azerbaijani leader said.

The Head of State added that a lot depends on the interaction between the countries.

On April 22, Aliyev arrived in Moscow on a working visit at the invitation of the Russian leader. Later, Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that the presidents would hold talks and meet with veteran builders of the Baikal-Amur Mainline.
