OREANDA-NEWS  Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu held a meeting at the headquarters of the joint group of forces in the zone of special military operation (SVO), stated the need to increase the supply of weapons in order to maintain the required pace of the offensive of troops, the military department reported on Wednesday.

At the meeting, Shoigu heard reports from the command on the current situation in the area of the SVO and the nature of enemy actions, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The meeting was attended by the chief of the Russian General Staff Valery Gerasimov, according to the official video of the ministry.

"During the meeting, the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation noted that the groups of troops continue to perform tasks in operational areas in accordance with the plan of a special military operation and pointed out the need to further increase the supply of weapons, military equipment and means of destruction to them," the message says.

"In order to maintain the required pace of offensive and ensure the build-up of the combat strength of the groups of troops for further actions, it is necessary to increase the volume and quality of weapons and military equipment supplied to the troops, primarily weapons of destruction," Shoigu said.

"The central military authorities are carrying out purposeful work in this direction. State contracts have been signed with industrial enterprises, taking into account their full utilization and the maximum reduction in the production time of samples of weapons and military equipment," he noted.

"At the same time, in the process of this work, issues arise that require special attention and urgent solutions, especially to provide the most in-demand samples," the minister said.

The Ministry of Defense said in a statement that Shoigu paid special attention to improving the efficiency of the work of the repair and restoration units of the Armed Forces in combat areas and the rear zone of the SVO.

"Sergei Shoigu instructed to take additional measures to reduce the time required to repair engines, assemblies and components of military equipment, as well as to increase the working capital of spare parts and components for the operational repair of equipment and weapons," the ministry said.

Shoigu presented the results of the modernization of standard weapons to increase the effectiveness of the fight against enemy drones, strengthen the protection of personnel from FPV drones on the line of contact, the release says.
