OREANDA-NEWS. A bust to sculptor Idel Ianchelevici will be made in the southern Leova town, under a decision taken by the cabinet today.     

According to the government decision, the bust will be set in the Leova town park. The spending for the works to design and construct the bust, as well as the works for arranging the adjacent area will be met from the Leova town budget, as well as with financial sources coming from donations and sponsorships.  

Sculptor and painter Idel Ianchelevici was born in the Leova town on 5 May 1909 and died in Maisons-Laffite, France, on 26 June 1994. He was one of the main representatives of the classical figurative sculpture of the 20th century. He created  sensitive and strong works, the defining feature of which represent the humane things, the man worried by questions. The sculptor left a huge work: the Walloon city of La Louvi?re and the suburbs of Paris Maisons-Laffitte host museums bearing his name, with over 300 sculptures and 4,000 paintings by the artist. The art museums from Bucharest and Galati, Romania, exhibit his works and his monumental creations are spread all over the world.
