OREANDA-NEWS. The deputy of the German Bundestag Waldemar Gerdt ("Alternative for Germany") commented on the statement of the Ambassador of Ukraine to Germany Andriy Melnik, who called on Berlin to contribute to the "return" of Crimea to Kiev.

The Ukrainian diplomat said earlier that it is Germany's "moral obligation" to assist the Ukrainian authorities in this matter, given its "colonial past in Crimea" and the millions of Ukrainian victims of Nazi terror during World War II.

Bundestag deputy Waldemar Gerdt responded to this call of RIA Novosti literally the following: "Insanity is growing stronger. There is nothing more to add."

The German MP added that assessments of the Crimean issue in such a context are puzzling.

As for the Russian side, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, commenting on Melnik's statement on Wednesday, recalled that Berlin is responsible for ensuring that Kiev fulfills its obligations under the Minsk agreements.

Senator Aleksey Pushkov noted that the only thing that Germany should do is to condemn the extremist organization OUN-UPA *, banned in Russia, as well as to impose sanctions against Ukraine and stop funding it until the monuments to Bandera and Shukhevych are removed in the country. Another Russian politician, State Duma deputy Ruslan Balbek, called the Ukrainian diplomat's statement absurd.
