OREANDA-NEWS. A research group from Hong Kong has developed a vaccine against coronavirus, but testing the medicine will take a long time.

This was reported by the newspaper South China Morning Post, citing a microbiologist of the Hong Kong University. “We have already created a vaccine, but it will take a long time to test the medicine on animals,” Professor Yuen Kwok-yung said. According to the scientist, animal testing can take several months, and human clinical trial can take at least one year.

It is noted that the researchers modified the vaccine against ordinary influenza, adding to it a portion of the antigen of coronavirus. Thus, as the newspaper writes, a new vaccine can prevent the infection both with flu and with coronavirus that causes pneumonia.
