OREANDA-NEWS. Manufacturers of vaccines against coronavirus who want to launch their products in the European Union must pass all the stages of verification and certification provided for in the community. This was stated by chief spokesman of the European Commission, Eric Mamer.

At a briefing in Brussels, he was asked about the possible purchase of vaccines by EU countries in third countries, in particular, in Russia and China. Any vaccine that will be distributed in the EU must comply with EU quality standards and pass all the necessary stages of EU approval. It is impossible to buy a medicine in a third country and use it in the EU if this product has not been certified, he replied.

Mamer added that the Union is currently negotiating on vaccines produced in Europe, noting that there are no talks with Russia, China or companies in these countries. This is the European vaccination strategy, and all EU member countries decided to take part in this process, European Commission spokesman explained.
