OREANDA-NEWSThe analytical center of the Crimean Federal University predicted an increase in COVID-19 infection in Crimea by more than 8 times by the end of autumn, while maintaining the current transmission index of the pathogen. This was stated in the press service of the university.

"If the transmission index of the pathogen of coronavirus infection remains at its current level, by the end of November the number of actively infected people in Crimea may increase from 600 (as of the end of August) to five thousand people," the university's press service said.

According to the forecast of scientists, the number of peak hospitalizations by the end of November may increase to 1.3 thousand, and the total number of deaths - close to 100. Scientists argue that with a decrease in the transmission index of the pathogen to 1.0-1.1 (now 1, 3) the peak number of hospitalizations will not exceed a thousand.

Scientists recommend maintaining anti-epidemic measures, primarily related to social distancing, the volume of testing in the amount of at least 3,000 tests per day, and also to increase, if necessary, the volume of home isolation of contact persons and patients with mild and asymptomatic forms.

As of Wednesday, a total of 2,542 cases of new coronavirus infection were registered in the republic. 1,720 people recovered, 31 died.
