OREANDA-NEWS. American technology corporation Facebook has paid a fine of 4 million roubles (about 53 thousand US dollars) for violation of the law of the Russian Federation on personal data.

This was reported to RBC news agency by the press service of the Tagansky District Court of Moscow. “On October 6, the enforcement proceedings were terminated by the resolution on the end of the enforcement proceedings. The fine was paid in full, it is 4 million roubles,” the court informed.

The Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media of Russia demanded that Facebook and Twitter move servers to Russia back in 2016, in accordance with amendments to the law “On Personal Data” of 2015, which requires that information about Russian users be stored in Russia.

In April 2019, the Tagansky Court of Moscow fined Facebook and Twitter 3 thousand roubles for refusing to provide information on the localization of personal data of Russian users.

After that, in February 2020, Facebook and Twitter were fined 4 million roubles.
