OREANDA-NEWS. Former serviceman of American army special forces Green Berets, Peter Rafael Dzibinski Debbins admitted a fact of cooperation with the Russian intelligence services. This was reported by The Washington Post, citing a statement from the military. Debbins was arrested in the United States a week ago on charges of divulging military secrets.

“I felt like a messiah in relation to Russia, imagined that I was going to free it from a repressive government, so I was flattered when they turned to me,” the military said in a written statement announced by the attorney at the hearing. Debbins added that he was “worried about what they might do” to his wife’s family.

Assistant US Attorney Thomas Traxler clarified that Debbins confessed to transferring classified data to the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service. According to the US Attorney’s Office, Debbins collaborated with the Russian intelligence services from 1996 to 2011. He transmitted information about the deployment of his unit in South Korea, Azerbaijan and Georgia.
