OREANDA-NEWS. In the Republic of Tatarstan, the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia detained a member of the terrorist organization Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), who financed it, recruited and transported citizens of Russia and other countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States to Syria.

The FSB Public Relations Center stated that officers have established criminal connections of the detainee in Tatarstan, Dagestan and the Tyumen Region, disclosed schemes for financing members of a terrorist group, as well as routes for the secret movement of militants. The agency added that the activities of the ISIL supporter were suppressed in cooperation with the Federal Service for Financial Monitoring of Russia.

In February, the FSB managed to detain four members of a cell of an extremist group in Tatarstan. It included three Russians and one Ukrainian; they were preparing to leave for Syria.
