OREANDA-NEWS. The Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia, together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Guard, detained 42 people who are suspected of creating clandestine workshops where civilian weapons were converted into military.

In the message of the agency, it is said that the searches took place in 12 regions throughout the country, including Moscow, the Chechen Republic, Kemerevo Region. In total, 179 weapons were seized during the operation. They include the machine gun PKM, assault rifles AK-74, submachine guns PPSh, Mosin rifles and carbines, pistols and revolvers Mauser, Parabellum, Luger, grenades F-1 and RGD-5.

“The activities of 22 clandestine workshops for the modernization of weapons and the manufacture of cartridges with specialized equipment, including 3D printers, were suppressed,” the FSB said in a statement.
