OREANDA-NEWS. At the end of 2020, Russia ranked 24th among 113 countries in terms of food security. This follows from the Global Food Security Index, which for the ninth time was prepared by analysts of The Economist Intelligence Unit with the support of Corteva Agriscience.

A year earlier, Russia occupied only 42nd place: then it scored 69.7 points out of 100 possible, in this - already 73.7 points (while calculating the index, one new criterion has now been added). The countries that scored more than 60 points, according to the authors of the rating, have a good security level, more than 80 points are very good. But there are only two such countries - Finland occupying the first line (85.3 points) and Ireland, which is in second place (83.8 points).

At the end of 2020, in terms of food security, Russia came close to Belarus: in the last ranking, it is in 23rd place with 73.8 points, a year earlier it was 36th line with 70.9 points.
