OREANDA-NEWS. In Honduras, journalist Luis Almendares was shot at by gunmen on a motorcycle and died. This was reported by the Nicaraguan newspaper Prensa.

On September 27, the reporter was broadcasting live on Facebook from the city of Comayagua in the central part of Honduras when he was attacked. Two people who were riding a motorcycle shot him several times and then fled. Almendares received three gunshot wounds. The journalist was urgently taken to the hospital, where he underwent surgery. However, the 35-year-old reporter passed away on Monday morning.

While he was still conscious, he told the authorities that he was heading to the store when the criminals appeared. Now the authorities are trying to establish their whereabouts.

The edition Criterio notes that Almendares was known for exposing activities of local businessmen and politicians, especially connected to corruption and drug trafficking.
