OREANDA-NEWS. Officers of the Federal Security Service of Russia (FSB) have managed to prevent terrorist attacks in the city of Yekaterinburg. During the operation, security forces neutralized three fighters.

According to the National Antiterrorism Committee, officers blocked a private one-storey house in the Chkalovsky District of Yekaterinburg, in which three bandits took refuge. “On the proposal to surrender to the authorities, the bandits opened fire. They were neutralized by the special forces of the FSB of Russia,” the statement reads. It is noted that during the operation, none of the security officers or civilians was injured. Homemade explosive devices, weapons and ammunition were found at the site of a shootout.

According to the Committee, the criminals were supporters of the terrorist organization Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) banned in Russia. They were preparing to commit “resonant crimes of a terrorist orientation.”
