OREANDA-NEWSA meeting between the leaders of Russia and Ukraine without a meaningful agenda will not be productive, although Vladimir Putin would be ready for negotiations with Vladimir Zelensky. This was stated by the press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov, the correspondent of the Russian media reports.

The negotiations on the meeting between Putin and Zelensky were earlier announced by the first president of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev. He said that he took on the role of mediator. “We are traditionally grateful to Nazarbayev and greatly appreciate the efforts of our Kazakhstani partners, the efforts of Nursultan in terms of establishing Russian-Ukrainian relations. You know that President Putin is a supporter of the reanimation of relations, but this can't be done without reciprocity on the part of Kiev”, Peskov said.

He noted that the Russian president is ready for a potential meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart. “Putin himself said that he never refuses such meetings and this one either, but believes that a meeting for the sake of the meeting will bring little benefit, it should be well prepared. We are now concentrating on preparing a meeting of the “Norman format”, he explained.
