Medvedev Met with the President of Vietnam
OREANDA-NEWS Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev during an official visit to Vietnam held a meeting with the Secretary General of the Communist party of Vietnam, President Nguyen Fu Chong.
The head of Vietnam, opening the meeting, noted that he retains the warmest memories of his recent visit to Russia. "Your visit is taking place in an environment where relations with our countries are developing very positively," he said.
Medvedev agreed with these words.
"The visit takes place at a time when our countries have very good relations — relations of strategic partnership. I hope that this event will contribute to the development of our relations," he said.
"It is good that the contacts between the governments of our countries are held regularly. This is a guarantee that relations will be warm and friendly. I want to convey greetings from President Vladimir Putin, " Medvedev said.
Earlier prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev visited the joint Russian-Vietnamese Tropical research center (Topcenter) and noted his contribution to the field of military engineering, ecology and medicine.
Accompanied by the Director General of the Russian part of the center of doctor of biological Sciences Andrei Kuznetsov and academician and Director General of the Vietnamese part of the center, major General Nguyen Hong Zy, the Prime Minister visited the Museum of the Troptsenter, where he was told about his work, laboratories equipped with the most modern equipment. Kuznetsov demonstrated to the Prime Minister, as well as to Deputy Prime Minister Maxim Akimov, Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Konstantin Vnukov, Deputy Minister of education Alexei Medvedev, Deputy foreign Minister Igor Morgulov and Director of the Department of international cooperation of the government Elmir Tagirov the layout of the center and told about the tasks of the center.
"I am very pleased to visit our joint Russian-Vietnamese tropical Research center. This is one of the key objects of our cooperation in the scientific and technical sphere, and there is no such center anywhere in the world," Medvedev said.
He noted that the result of cooperation between Russian and Vietnamese specialists are unique developments in the field of fundamental and applied science. According to Medvedev, many of them received an assessment of the professional community, as well as Russian and Vietnamese ministries and departments.
