OREANDA-NEWS. Autumn, which surprised meteorologists with a record lingering warmth, turned into a bad weather uncharacteristic for this time. Global warming has taught us that the last years of snow or not actually before the New Year, or it falls and melts quickly. In 2020, even the weather is not behaving as usual.

Recently, snowfalls and dangerous freezing rains came to most regions of Russia. In Primorye, freezing rain caused power line breaks, in Central Russia the elements led to road accidents, in Kalmykia, cars got stuck in snow drifts. In Moscow, freezing rain was followed by heavy snowfall, and after a snowfall it rained again. Seeing such a forecast, many people prefer to stay at home: the skating rink is provided instead of the streets. But Muscovites were more fortunate than residents of other Russian regions, as the capital's utilities successfully coped with abnormal weather conditions and a collapse on the city streets was avoided.

The Primorsky Territory suffered the most from the disaster. On the night of November 19, snow and freezing rain in the region provoked breaks in power lines, more than 180 thousand residents from 73 settlements of the region were left without electricity. Without electricity, pumping stations that supply water and heating to buildings and residential buildings stopped in Vladivostok, as a result, as early as Friday, a regional emergency situation was announced in Primorye. While the city's life support is being restored, the authorities of the regional capital have deployed field kitchens for citizens deprived of heat and electricity.

Snowfalls also took place in other regions of Russia. For example, in Kalmykia, some roads were so covered with snow that people stood for hours in traffic jams, freezing in their cars. Therefore, mobile heating points had to be installed right next to the roads.

A lot of snow fell even where it usually does not happen. So, some areas near Krasnodar were so covered with snow that from the abundance of precipitation, electrical wires began to close.
