The authorities of North Korea gave instructions to lay mines on the border with China as a measure to prevent illegal entry into the country of people who may be infected with coronavirus of a new type. This was reported by Yonhap information agency, citing representatives of the South Korean intelligence.

Pyongyang has closed the borders and planted mines on some sections of the border with China, since there is no physical or technical capability to fight the coronavirus, one of the South Korean parliamentarians explained. According to the National Intelligence Service of South Korea, the spread of the pandemic in North Korea will lead to catastrophic consequences due to the poor development of the medical sector.

South Korean intelligence reported on one of the documents of the People’s Republic of Korea, drawn up after a meeting of the Workers’ Party in February, according to which as a result of the spread of coronavirus in the country, up to 500 thousand people could die.
