OREANDA-NEWS. Polish border guards on Thursday, November 25, stopped at least 375 attempts by migrants to illegally cross the Belarusian-Polish border and enter the territory of the European Union, a representative of the Polish border service said. According to her, in the vicinity of the village of Cheremsha, a group of 232 people damaged border barriers and went several meters deeper into Polish territory, but was forced out of Poland. Five migrants had to be hospitalized due to physical exhaustion.

The Polish police, in turn, reported the detention of three alleged smugglers involved in the illegal transfer of migrants to the EU – two Ukrainians and a Swedish citizen of Syrian origin. They were captured while leading a group of 14 migrants to the border. It is impossible to confirm this information from independent sources, since Poland does not allow media representatives to the areas bordering Belarus.

The authorities in Minsk reported that about 2,000 migrants are still in a crisis shelter on the Belarusian side of the border, waiting to move to Germany. Many of them need medical help due to hypothermia, the BelTA news agency reported.

Thousands of migrants from Belarus have been trying to enter the territory of the European Union through Poland or the Baltic States for many weeks. The European Union accuses Belarusian ruler Alexander Lukashenko of deliberately organizing the importation of migrants to Belarus in order to then transport them to EU countries.
